Imagine a big ball of yarn. Hold it in your hand. It is all bunched up in a twisted, intertwining sphere.
It feels quite heavy when it is in this form. This ball of yarn is like your mind winding around and interlocked in various directions. Your worries feel like the yarn, trapped in your mind.
Take the ball of yarn and put it on the floor. Find the end of the strand and put your finger down on it.
Gently push the ball of yarn away from you. Watch as the strand unravels. It is gradually moving away, shrinking in size, changing shape and extending into a single line.
In the same way you can let any worrisome thoughts or noise in your mind, unwind.
All the bundled tension rolls out until it is completely loose. No more twist and turns, just a long lightweight strand that replaces the heavy bundled ball. Pick up the strand of yarn. Notice how it is light and completely loose in your hand.
Just like the yarn, imagine all of your tension just rolling out until your mind is completely calm, relaxed and quiet.
