A crackling wood Fire

As we go into a time of meditation, take 3 deep cleansing breaths.

Breath in, hold, exhale… Breath in, hold, exhale… Breath in, hold, exhale…

Close your eyes and tune into your senses. Imagine a bonfire with soft cozy chairs surrounding it. You sit on one of the chairs and pull a soft down comforter up and snuggle in.

Can you hear the fire? The crackle of sparks. Can you smell the fire? The burning wood, the smoke. Can you feel the fire? Can you put your hands or feet near the fire? The warmth, the flickering flame that goes here and there, random movement that is so relaxing to watch.

Visualize the wood burning. Notice how bright the fire is. How ephemeral are the flames, how the smoke swirls. Notice the bright red wood coming through the blackness, shimmering. I am reminded that God’s love shines through for us in times of darkness.

Fire, is actually the release of the sun’s energy from the wood. It’s part of a process, a change of state, that is no different than snow melt into the river. It’s the sun giving us warmth and energy in a different form.

Fire is an element of transformation. Imagine throwing all your needless worries into the fire. Letting go. Visualize your dreams and let the warmth of the fire into your mind and bring those dreams to life.

In the final moments of this meditation, let’s take in the warmth and light of the fire, Feel God’s love. Even when the sun is not present as long during the day, we always feel God’s comfort.
